The illustration shows a house section with a basement gas furnace connected by a vent connector to an exterior brick chimney, and a wood-burning fireplace connected to a vertical metal chimney through the roof. A horizontal reference line identifies the level of the furnace draft hood. Beside the masonry chimney, a vertical dimension indicates a minimum 5-foot requirement above that reference level. Beside the fireplace chimney, a vertical dimension from the top of the fireplace to the chimney termination indicates a minimum 15-foot requirement.
