Generated explanation

A building cross section shows an oil furnace connected by a metal vent connector to a vertical Class "A" chimney that passes through the floor and roof and terminates with a cap. Section A-A illustrates concentric chimney walls with insulation between a stainless steel inner wall and a stainless or galvanized steel outer wall. The insulation thickness is labeled as commonly 1 inch. Notes describe Class "A" as an obsolete designation for oil appliances and some wood-burning appliances, excluding wood heating, and mention insulated double-wall or air-cooled triple-wall construction. The drawing states that these chimneys are usually tested up to 1000°F; no specific defect is identified.
