Generated explanation

Two cutaway wall-to-foundation details illustrate wrapped and lapped above-grade terminations of exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS). In the wrapped detail, reinforcing mesh and base coat wrap around the bottom edge of the insulation, leaving the foundation exposed below. In the lapped detail, the upper EIFS assembly overlaps a thinner EIFS application directly on the foundation. Both details specify termination above grade according to local building code and show the adjacent grade sloping away from the wall.
