Generated explanation

The main drawing shows a drip cap, or head flashing, installed across the top of a window in a sided exterior wall. Its vertical leg extends up the wall sheathing beneath the sheathing paper, while its projecting lower edge covers the window head. Cutaway portions expose the relationship between the siding, sheathing paper, sheathing, and flashing. A smaller inset compares roof overhang width with the vertical distance from the window top to the soffit. The note states that drip cap flashing is not required when the overhang width is four or more times that distance.
