Generated explanation

The illustration shows an open-riser wooden basement stair with treads supported between two inclined stringers. One stringer runs directly against an exterior basement wall. A callout identifies this wall-adjacent stringer as susceptible to rot and recommends careful inspection. Dashed outlines highlight the bottoms of both stringers, where another annotation warns of rot, particularly if the wood extends into the basement floor slab. The drawing identifies vulnerable locations rather than showing detailed visible decay.
